What is Reiki?

Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life force energy.  It was rediscovered in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist scholar, who developed the method into a complete practical healing system.  This ancient form of healing is a vehicle to channel love, the most powerful healer.  It opens the heart, crown and palm chakras to the causes of disease, pain and reinforces the body’s ability to heal itself.

Reiki can be used on situational challenges e.g. life changing events such as divorce, marriage, bereavement, moving home, menopause etc.

Physical problems; (aids healing in broken bones, speeds recovery after operations, from strokes and heart attacks, it can also boost the immune system.

Emotional problems; depression sufferers, it can reduce stress, it is also beneficial and stabilising in cases of schizophrenia or other mental conditions, it can help recovery from addiction to alcohol, smoking or other addictive drugs.

Reiki is a simple and effective method for opening up the healing powers within you, accessing healing on many levels and creating balance in mind, body and soul.  This is an ancient meridian system which was first understood by the Chinese thousands of years ago.  When we are healthy this energy flows quite easily creating balance, harmony and protection from ill health.  When the meridian system becomes blocked this is when we become ill.  Reiki stimulates the flow of subtle energy to restore balance and boost the body’s own healing ability.

Life force flows through the physical body via the pathways called chakras and meridians.  It also flows around your energy field which is called the Aura.

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy.  It raises the vibration in the energy field and within the physical body and therefore the negative thoughts and feelings are attacked.  This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away.

When having Reiki it clears and heals the energy pathways by allowing the life force to flow in a natural healthy way.

THE REIKI PRINCIPLES:

  • Just for today I will not be angry
  • Just for today, I will not worry
  • Just for today, I will be grateful
  • Just for today, I will do my work honestly
  • Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing
